Patna: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday created history by becoming the first ever Prime Minister to visit Bihar for the 50th time. Aware of the significance of his visit, he first inaugurated the new terminal building of the Jaya Prakash Narayan International Airport at Patna, constructed at a cost of Rs 1,200 crore. The new airport can handle up to one crore passengers annually.
“As Prime Minister, this is Modi ji’s 50th visit to Bihar, which goes on to show how concerned he has been for the development of this state,” said Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Samrat Choudhary.
The Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone for a new civil enclave at Bihta airport valued at Rs 1,410 crore, before holding a grand roadshow stretching over six kilometres in the state capital and culminating at the BJP headquarters here.
Harping on the development plank in the caste-ridden state of Bihar, which will go to polls this year in October and November, Modi will also lay the foundation for NTPC’s Super Thermal Power Project (2400 MW) in Aurangabad’s Nabinagar on Friday. Besides, he will lay the foundation for Patna-Sasaram four-lane and inaugurate the Patna-Bodh Gaya four-lane constructed by the NHAI (National Highway Authority of India) on May 30, apart from addressing a rally at Bikramganj in Rohtas district on Friday.
This is Modi’s third visit to Bihar this year. Earlier, he visited Bhagalpur in February. And then Madhubani on April 24, just two days after the Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 persons were killed. Modi chose the land of Madhubani in Bihar to tell the world that “those involved in the heinous terror attack will be identified, traced and punished in such a way that it will be beyond their imagination.”
By May 7, Modi had fulfilled his promise made from the land of Bihar through Operation Sindoor in which the Indian defence force destroyed and decimated terror hubs in Pakistan and PoK. Buoyed by the success of Operation Sindoor, when Modi held a road show in Patna on Thursday, patriotic fervour was quite palpable while slogans like ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ made the emotional sentiments surcharged.
