New Delhi: Now, Asura King 'Ravana' is caught in the midst of AAP and BJP crossfire in the Delhi Assembly election!
BJP on Tuesday accused Arvind Kejriwal of insulting Lord Ram and Sita by misquoting Ramayana with its Delhi unit president Virendra Sachdeva holding a fast while the AAP chief described the saffron party's protest as one in the honour of the demon king and accused them of having "demonic tendencies".
It all started with a remark by Kejriwal during an election meeting on Monday, when quoted Ramayana to say that Sita was abducted by Ravana who appeared as a golden deer when Lord Ram went out in search of food.
However, the BJP leaders found fault with it, saying that Kejriwal misquoted the mythical story. They said it was another character ‘Maricha’ who distracted Lord Ram as a golden deer when Ravana abducted Sita.
Sachdeva started his fast after a visit to a Hanuman temple in the capital and called Kejriwal a 'Chunavi Hindu' (Election-time Hindu) and sought forgiveness for "disrespect" shown by him to Lord Ram.
He claimed that Kejriwal mentioned deities in rallies but hurt Hindu sentiments by narrating inaccurate stories due to ignorance. "The Hindu community will never forgive Kejriwal for hurting their sentiments," he said.
Kejriwal hit back saying, "I said yesterday that Ravana took the form of a golden deer. The BJP leaders are sitting on dharna outside my house for why I insulted Ravana. They have so much love for Ravan, they have demonic tendencies."
Senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia posted on X, saying the BJP leaders were "defending" Ravana as if they were his "descendants". The BJP's politics has stooped so low that its leaders were using symbols like Ravana to justify their false statements, he said.
