New Delhi: The BJP on Saturday tried to link Rahul Gandhi’s Berlin visit to Soros.
BJP's IT Cell chief Amit Malviya said that during his visit, Rahul interacted with Cornelia Woll, a prominent academic “associated with institutions that are often linked, directly or indirectly, to global political funding networks.”
He said that these funding networks received money from George Soros and its Open Society ecosystem.
Rahul Gandhi is currently on a trip to Germany where he met several dignitaries including former Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
Malviya said that Gandhi’s meeting has “raised questions” that “deserve scrutiny”.
“While no official clarification has been offered about the purpose or outcomes of this meeting, the overlap between international political activism, funding networks, and Indian domestic politics naturally invite questions. When Leader of Opposition engages with influential global actors abroad, transparency becomes essential,” he posted on X.
BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia, too, held a press conference at the party headquarters on the issue. Bhatia showed a photo of Gandhi with Woll, who is president and professor at the Berlin-based Hertie school, and said that it is “proof” of the Congress leader meeting “anti-India forces in Germany”.
Bhatia also claimed that Woll is a trustee of the Central European University, and that it is funded by Soros’ Open Society Foundation. “I want to ask Rahul Gandhi what kind of conspiracy is he hatching against the country by joining hands with such forces,” Bhatia said.
The Congress is yet to respond to this.
