"After seeing the results in different states in these by-elections no one can say that at present BJP is losing in states...BJP has performed well in each and every state," Singh told reporters here.

He claimed the bypoll results showed Congress is not only losing ground in Gujarat but also in states like Gujarat, Uttarakhand and Madhya Pradesh.
In Gujarat, the ruling BJP bagged five of the seven seats that went to polls on September 10, while Congress won two. Of the seven seats where by-elections were held, six were with Congress and one by BJP.

BJP also secured a majority in the Uttarakhand Assembly by winning the Vikasnagar seat, taking its tally to 36 in the 70-member House.

BJP's victory is a morale booster for the party after it lost all the five seats in the recent Lok Sabha elections in the state that forced B C Khanduri to quit chief ministership.
