New Delhi: Attacking the BJP-RSS claiming that its “duplicity knows no boundaries”, Congress on Tuesday alleged that RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat will project a soft image by talking against Hindutva activists seeking temples behind mosques while others do the opposite.

Drawing a parallel between Modi's famous bowing down before the Parliament building when he entered it for the first time as Prime Minister in 2014, it also said that the old building has now given way to a new building and now Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants a “new Constitution” as he had bowed down before the book in November this year.

Congress General Secretary (Communications) Jairam Ramesh told a press conference, “The BJP-RSS’ duplicity knows no boundaries. When they want to showcase softness, they push Bhagwat forward to make sweet statements. Then they do the exact opposite.”

He was responding to questions on Bhagwat’s recent statement criticising right-wing activists who were seeking court orders for surveying mosques claiming that it was built on remains of temples.

“When Modi came to Parliament for the first time after becoming Prime Minister, he bowed down before Parliament. The result was that the old building gave way to a new building. This November, he bowed before the Constitution. The result could be a new Constitution. They do not want this Constitution. Modi wants a new building, new Constitution,” he said.

Congress Media and Publicity Department Chairman Pawan Khera said Modi used to bow down before L K Advani earlier but now when he is in hospital all are going to meet Pratap Sarangi, who is claimed to have injured during a protest in Parliament.

Congress General Secretary (Organisation) K C Venugopal said Bhagwat advises something but in reality what is happening is entirely different. Just on this Monday, he said, VHP people prevented Christmas celebrations in a school in Kerala.

“The Prime Minister went to a Christmas function organised by the Catholic Bishops Conference of India where he spoke about the attack on Christians in Germany. But he is totally silent on Manipur. What we are witnessing is total hatred spread by the government,” Venugopal said.

Khera said the BJP-RSS always had masks and when they showcased A B Vajpayee, Advani was in the godown and when Advani was projected as soft, there was Modi in the godown. “Now Modi and Bhagwat are showcased, you have people like Yogi Adityanath and Sarangi in the godown,” he said.
