Rukhsana is currently in Delhi. Her brother, Aijaz, too has been appointed SPO, a police official said on Monday. The appointment orders have been issued to enable the two to keep weapons and also earn some money to sustain themselves, the official added.
He said Rukhsana, who figures on the hit list of terrorists, needed weapons for self protection. Asked why Rukhsana was appointed SPO even as she was in Delhi, the official said: “It was necessary, because terrorists can strike anywhere.”
Rukhsana, who hails from Kalsi village in the upper Shahdhara area of Rajouri district, had grappled with the terrorists who entered her home.
She grabbed an AK-47 rifle from one of the terrorists and shot him dead. The dead militant was identified as Abu Osama, an LeT commander. Since then, militants have been after her life.
