Two-yr-old child crushed to death in Haryana's Ambala

The incident took place when the mother of the child was alighting from a bus at Kalka chowk carrying her son in her arms. As soon as she got down, she was hit by a truck coming from behind and was thrown off to the other side of the road. Her son came under the truck, said police. The woman, identified as Somvati, was a resident of Gobindgarh in Punjab and had come to Ambala city to see a doctor. (PTI)

Villagers warn of boycotting election in Chikkamagaluru

Demanding to repair the damaged road at Hadugaru village in Jayapura of Koppa taluk in Chikkamagaluru, a few party workers representing Congress, BJP and JD(S) have tendered resignation and the villagers have warned of boycotting the upcoming assembly election.

The village comes under Sringeri Assembly constituency in Chikkamagaluru district. The villagers have been demanding the authorities to repair the road for the last several years. Condemning the apathy, the villagers have warned off boycotting the election. The road is used by around 450 people daily for commuting.

Doha-bound carrier suffers technical snag

A Doha-bound private flight with 139 passengers onboard suffered a technical snag while preparing for takeoff early on Friday, following which it returned, an airport official said.

The flight was on the runway preparing for takeoff when the snag was noticed and the pilots sought permission to return, the official said. The 139 passengers were disembarked and provided with accommodation in city hotels. They were likely to proceed to their destination after the technical issue is addressed. There were five crew members.

The Gandhinagar-Mumbai Vande Bharat Superfast Express hit a cattle between Udvada and Vapi stations in Gujarat on Thursday evening, a railway official said. The collision caused a minor dent to the train's front panel, he added.

This is the fourth such incident involving the semi-high speed train on the route since it began operating two months ago.
