UP delegation nets Rs 20,000 cr investments from Singapore

Singapore investors have committed nearly Rs 20,000 crores of investment in Uttar Pradesh in areas such as data centres, logistics services and education following a business promotion delegation visit to the city-state.

The investments were committed following a four-day presentation here, which concluded on Monday, by the UP Global Investment Summit (UPGIS) delegation led by State Minister of Jal Shakti and Flood Control Swatantra Dev Singh.(PTI)

Delhi LG has no power to pass such order: AAP on direction to pay Rs 97 Cr for 'political ads'

The Aam Aadmi Party on Tuesday said Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena has no power to pass orders directing the chief secretary to recover Rs 97 crore from the party for "political advertisements".

Addressing a press conference here, AAP chief spokesperson Saurabh Bhardwaj termed the LG's direction a "new love letter".

"The BJP is flustered that we have become a national party and wrested power from it in the MCD. LG sahab is doing everything in accordance with the BJP's directions and that is troubling the people of Delhi. The more worried Delhi's people are, the happier the BJP gets," Bhardwaj claimed. (PTI)

England beat Pakistan by eight wickets in the third and final Test in Karachi Tuesday to sweep the series 3-0 and hand the Pakistanis their first home whitewash.

Resuming on 112-2, England reached the modest 167-run target in just 38 minutes, with Ben Duckett and Ben Stokes finishing unbeaten on 82 and 35 respectively.

England won the first Test in Rawalpindi by 74 runs and the second in Multan by 26 runs.(AFP)

Singapore-based Indian-origin Global Schools Foundation (GSF) announced on Tuesday plans to invest over USD 550 million in India’s school education sector by 2026.

Haryana notifies rules under anti-conversion law, DMs to invite objections before approval

The Haryana government has notified rules to implement its law against religious conversion through force, undue influence or allurement under which district magistrates will have to publish a public notice and invite objections, if any, to an intended conversion.

The state assembly had passed the Haryana Prevention of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Bill in March this year. The anti-conversion law was notified a month later after the governor's assent.(PTI)
