Will legalise abortion if Democrats win Congress in mid-terms, says Biden

US President Joe Biden on Tuesday said that if the Democrats hold a majority in the House of Representatives and win seats in the Senate in the mid-term elections in November, Congress would float a bill legalising abortion.

French cement giant Lafarge SA will pay a $778 million fine to the US Justice Department for supporting terror groups in Syria during the Syrian civil war, Lafarge and its parent Holcim Group announced Tuesday.

Lafarge SA and its defunct subsidiary Lafarge Cement Syria "have agreed to plead guilty to one count of conspiring to provide material support to designated foreign terrorist organizations in Syria from August 2013 to October 2014," the companies said in a statement.

Ukraine's foreign minister said on Tuesday he was submitting a proposal to President Volodymyr Zelenskyyto formally cut diplomatic ties with Tehran after a wave of Russian attacks using what Kyiv says are Iranian-made drones.

Russia launched dozens of "kamikaze" drones on targets in Ukraine on Monday, striking energy infrastructure and killing several civilians.

Ukraine says the attacks were carried out with Iranian-made Shahed-136 drones. Tehran denies supplying the drones.

BSF shoots down drone along Pakistan border in Punjab

The Border Security Force shot down a quad-copter drone suspected to be carrying narcotics on Sunday night along the India-Pakistan international border in the Amritsar region, officials said. This is the second such incident in past three days at this frontier. The drone weighing 12 kgs had four propellers.
