Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha proceedings were adjourned for the day on Tuesday, amid uproar over BJP's demand for Rahul Gandhi's apology for his 'democracy in danger' remark in London.The Upper House of Parliament will meet again on March 23.
When Rajya Sabha reassembled at 2 pm, having been adjourned earlier in the day, Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar led the House in greeting the country for various festivals, including Chaitra Sukhladi, Gudi Padwa, Ugadi, Cheti Chand, Navre and Sajibu Cheiraoba.He also said that on the request of several members to enable them to participate in the festivities, the House will not have a sitting on Wednesday and instead it would meet on March 23.
In Lok Sabha, as soon as the proceedings started, members of the opposition benches raised the issue and shouted slogans like "we want JPC".
However, the Chair, Rajendra Agarwal, managed to pass the budget for Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Chair adjourned the House till 11 am on March 23 as Opposition MPs gathered in the Well of the House demanding a JPC into the Adani issue.
Meanwhile, proceedings are under way in the Lower House. Opposition MPs are shouting slogans demanding a JPC probe into the Adani issue.
Floor leaders of other political parties, excluding BJP, YSRCP and TDP, did not attend the meeting called by Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar at 11.30 am today, to deliberate on securing smooth functioning of the House.
Dhankhar calls LoP Mallikarjun Kharge to speak. As soon as Kharge says that Rahul Gandhi is not a member of Rajya Sabha, the Chairman adjourns the House till 11 am on March 23.

As Opposition MPs continue to seek a discussion on Adani issue, Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar says, "We're the most responsible theatre of the largest democracy in the world. People expect us to engage in discussion."
The Opposition on Tuesday attacked the BJP government over Mehul Choksi being removedfrom Interpol's red corner notice list.
Taking to Twitter, Kharge said in a tweer in Hindi, "ED-CBI for Opposition leaders, but release from Interpol for "our Mehul Bhai" of Modi ji!"
DMP MP Tiruchi Siva has given asuspension of Business Notice in Rajya Sabha under rule 267 and demands discussion on “the Government’s failure to constitute a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to investigate the charges of corporate fraud in the country”.
Gandhi has written to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to allow him to speak in the House over his democracy remarks made in the UK, sources said on Monday.
Gandhi met Birla last week after his return from the United Kingdom.
Sources said that Gandhi wants to speak in the Lok Sabha to clarify his remarks made in the UK, over which the BJP is demanding an apology from him after accusing the Congress leader of insulting the country and its institutions on foreign soil.
