Students who took the Class XII Board examination this year can get answer sheets re-evaluated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) introducing a fresh provision from this year.

Students can seek re-evaluation in maximum 10 questions each in the subjects of English Core, Functional English, English Elective, Hindi Core, Hindi Elective, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Business Studies, Economics and Accountancy.

The Board has decided to allow re-evaluation of answer sheets  in theory papers only. To seek re-evaluation, a student will have to first apply for verification of marks and for obtaining photocopy of the evaluated answer books, CBSE chairman Vineet Joshi said, adding the entire application procedure will be online.

Applications for verification of marks should be made by the students on-line within 7 days with effect from May 30 to June 5.

Students will be charged Rs 300 per subject as fee for verification of their marks only through gateway or E-Challan. The past practice of applying for verification of marks at designated schools has been done away with.

“No candidate will be permitted to make a request for providing of photocopy without following the procedure of verification of marks and in the same way , no candidate would have a right to challenge the answers without verification of marks and getting photocopy of the evaluated answer book,” a CBSE official said.

The board will receive the applications for photocopy of the evaluated answer book from June 20 to June 23. Only those who have applied for verification of their marks should apply for copy of evaluated answer book.

In case there is a variation of +5 marks or more in any subject after re-evaluation, the marks awarded in the first evaluation in the subject will stand annulled and the fresh marks awarded in the re-evaluation will only stand valid for that particular subject.
