The Union Coal Ministry is in talks with the Power Ministry to see if technical changes can be made in imported coal power plants in India so that they can use domestic coal, a senior official said on Friday.
"Talks are on to see if there are technical possibilities ... whether there could be some modifications in the plant designs that could be made so that certain portion of domestic coal can also go into these plants," Coal Secretary Vikram Dev Dutt said.
