Alleging that the West Bengal government has not yet provided land sought by the Centre for fencing at the border with Bangladesh, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday said that now the Centre will use technology to seal off the borders with Bangladesh in Bengal and Assam.

“ We have earlier sought land from the West Bengal government for fencing off the border with Bangladesh but are yet to receive it. Now we have decided to seal off the border with Bangladesh and Assam using technology. We will use an integrated border management system for the purpose,” said Singh. He was addressing a BJP rally at Falakata in Alipurduar district of Bengal.

He also said that the sealing of border with Bangladesh in Bengal and Assam will play a key role in curbing smuggling and infiltration.

The home minister slammed the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government over the law and order situation in the state and alleged that about 100 BJP workers had been killed in Bengal.

“ None of these criminals will be spared. If political violence has to come to an end in Bengal then it should have a BJP chief minister in the 2021 Assembly elections,” said Singh.

Singh targeted West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at another rally at Mathabhanga in Cooch Behar district over crimes against women in Bengal.
