Chairman of pharmacy college arrested, principal on run

Upender Singh, chairman of Oxford college of pharmacy has been arrested and sent to jail for running the institute without recognition, the police said, adding that three others including director SK Panda, principal Shushma Gupta and clerk Bhaskar Bhatt are absconding.

Three students, Jitender, Sanjeev and Kapil had lodged an FIR on February 25 against the chairman and others in Massoorie police station of the district, Superintendent of Police (city) JK Shahi said.

The students in their complaint had alleged that the management had charged Rs 50,000 from them for a course which is not recognised, Shahi said. Students of two other colleges in the district are also protesting for recognition from PCI.
