Creating memes on teachers took a drastic turn when one of the students behind it was found hanging from the ceiling in his room by his mother on Saturday.
As per a report in The Indian Express, four month ago, the school accused the deceased and four other students of creating memes on teachers and posting them on Instagram. For the same reason, their parents were summoned to the school, and after a warning, the students deleted this account. However, the victim's mother alleged that the school continued to harass the children and on Saturday, they were assaulted at the Cyber Crime office.
Ritu Verma, a single parent, revealed that her son was called in by the Chandigarh Cyber Cell after a complaint was filed by his school. Despite telling ASI Gurdev Singh that she was not in Jalandhar and would come back and bring her son to the station personally, the victim was still called in along with three other students.
Here, she alleged, the children were assaulted. The police reportedly obtained the contact details of the teenagers from an unknown source. After he came back from Cyber Cell office in Sector 17, Chandigarh, Maulik allegedly took the drastic step.
The mother recalled that when she came back home she found the door of her son's room locked and broke the window after her calls went unanswered. Upon finding her son hanging from the ceiling fan, family members rushed him to a hospital, where he was declared dead. The mother holds the school management and ASI responsible as she is demanding justice for her son.
On Sunday, other parents along with the family of the complainant filed a complaint at the Zirakpur police station. While a suicide note was recovered, it did not mention any names. The body has been sent for postmortem.
