Kerala’s Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will apprise Prime Minister Narendra Modi of the state’s concerns over the Kasturirangan panel’s recommendations on environment conservation in the Western Ghats during their meeting scheduled on Monday.

“The panel’s report impacts six states. I’ll request the PM to not take decisions without consultation with the state governments,” Chandy told reporters in Kochi, before leaving for Delhi.

Monday’s meeting will be Chandy’s first with the new prime minister. The chief minister had stayed away from Modi’s swearing-in ceremony but had sought time for a meeting.

Chandy is also scheduled to meet senior leaders including Congress president Sonia Gandhi on the possibilities of a Cabinet reshuffle in Kerala.

The Kerala Congress (B), an ally of the Congress in the ruling United Democratic Front (UDF), has been pushing for the re-entry of its former minister K B Ganesh Kumar. Chandy, however, has remained non-committal on the demand.
