In a veiled warning to separatists in Kashmir, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday said that he has asked the officers to review the security provided to people taking money from Pakistan and its intelligence agency ISI.
“There are some elements who are hand in glove with militant organisations, and ISI across the border. They are involved in conspiracies too. They are toying with the future of the people, especially the youth, of J&K. I have told the officers that the security provided to such people should be reviewed,” he told reporters in an apparent reference to separatist leaders.
Rajnath, who arrived here, a day after deadly fidayeen (suicide) attack on a CRPF convoy killed 49 paramilitary personnel in Lethpora area of Pulwama, asserted that India will win the decisive war against terrorism. “We are happy that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are with us in our fight. Although, there are some people and organisations who are hand in glove with Pakistan militant groups.”
He asserted that New Delhi will not tolerate militancy and will eliminate terrorism soon. “Peace is the first priority of Government of India. We will not tolerate terror backed by Pakistan and ISI,” the home minister said.
He also called for restricted “civilian traffic” on the highways during the movement of convoys of the security forces. “In the wake of suicide attack on CRPF convoy yesterday (Thursday), it has been decided that civilian movement will be stopped for some time when a large convoy of security forces passes through an area,” he said after laying floral wreaths on the mortal remains of the slain CRPF personnel.
Rajnath acknowledged that civilians will face a little difficulty because of the restriction. “We apologise for it,” he said.
The Home Minister also said he has instructed the state government to ensure communal harmony.
