Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will not keep any portfolio. His primary role will be to monitor the work of the ministers and ensure direct connect with the citizens, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said on Saturday.

“Kejriwal will be in charge of three main sectors. To make the ministries work effectively and supervise their work to make changes in the system, making use of modern technology and to connect directly with the people of Delhi. He will meet people to know what their problems are. He will also oversee the MLAs,” Sisodia said while addressing the first press conference of the new government at the secretariat.

In three tweets, Kejriwal also defended his decision of not keeping any portfolio saying that the chief minister should not micro-manage any specific ministry.

“Some people surprised and asking me why i didn’t keep any portfolio wid myself? I don’t think CM shud micromanage any one ministry. I will devote myself 2 finding systemic solns to Delhi’s problems n implementing them. This includes tech as well as governance solns. Also I will regularly monitor the work of all ministers n MLAs n hold them accountable (sic),” Kejriwal tweeted.

Sisodia added that to make Delhi a world class city in five years, Kejriwal will travel across the capital to meet citizens and experts to build a realistic and practical plan.
