The BJP on Tuesday accused the Congress of starting a "farce of a protest" about "growing intolerance" in the country after investigation "reached the doorsteps" of the Gandhi family in cases involving the National Herald and businessman Robert Vadra.
Reacting against the Congress' march to Rashtrapati Bhavan, BJP spokesperson M J Akbar said the recent reports on the Congress chief's son-in-law's land transactions involving shell companies had "rattled" top party leaders.
“False drama will not screen these facts from the people,” he said.
Sambit Patra, another BJP spokesperson, said, “This is not an ordinary march. This march is happening when you are going to get caught and investigation has come to your doorstep. Knowing very well that within a few days your story will be over and people of this country will know that you stand for corruption and corruption alone, you have started this farce of a march."
Patra said, "Skeletons in the cupboard of the Gandhi family are slowly coming out. Vadra sold land in Bikaner to a company that existed only on paper."
The Enforcement Directorate on Monday searched the company's premises in south Delhi but has not named Vadra or his company in any complaint.
