“We want the UPA to act strongly against those organisations whose activists are taking part in terror and anti-national activities,” AICC spokesman Shakeel Ahmed told reporters following reports that RSS leader Aseemanand had confessed to his involvement in the 2007 Samjhauta Express blast.

The RSS and BJP blamed the CBI for selectively leaking confessions of Aseemanand.
“Reports about the confessions of Aseemanand which have appeared in the media have brought out the new terror face of the RSS. This is Sanghi terrorism which poses a big threat to the country,” Shakeel said.

To a question on whether the RSS should be banned, he quipped: “Ban it or disband it but take firm action. (In the light of) new facts that have come to light, the government should take action after examining all of them.”

Another Congress spokesperson Manish Tiwari said the confession was “very disturbing” and showed there were some elements in the Sangh Parivar who have indulged in alleged acts of terror. He said it “needs a minute probe” to know whether the trail ended with Aseemanand.
