Launching an aggressive movement to show the shortcomings of the Narendra Modi-led government and setting up its own media houses were some of the suggestions that emerged at an informal Congress brainstorming exercise that  analysed the humiliating defeat in the Lok Sabha elections.

Leaders from West Bengal and Bihar, who met an informal panel, chaired by senior Congress leader A K Antony on Monday, also pointed out the confused signals the party sent to alliances in the two states, which contributed to the poor performance.

Interestingly, Antony was tasked by Congress president Sonia Gandhi to find possible coalition partners to strengthen the United Progressive Alliance.
