New Delhi: Congress on Friday held ‘Jai Hind Yatra’ across the country to express solidarity with the armed forces, in the wake of the Operation Sindoor, and remember the lives lost in Pahalgam terror attack.

"This 'yatra' serves as a tribute to the courage and sacrifice of our soldiers who protect our nation every day. The 'Jai Hind Yatra' is not just a march, it is a call for unity, peace, and justice," Congress Media and Publicity Department Chairman Pawan Khera said.

He said Congress workers from across the country stand firm against terrorism and reaffirm their commitment to a strong and secure India.

"This movement reflects our deep respect for those who serve and our hope for a safer future. Together, we move forward with determination and hope, showing that India’s strength lies in its unity and resilience. Let us walk this path with pride and purpose," he posted on 'X'.

Later in the evening, senior leaders, including KC Venugopal, Ajay Maken, Sachin Pilot, Khera and Gurdeep Sappal, along with workers held a ‘Jai Hind Yatra’ in the national capital.

Congress General Secretary (Communications) Jairam Ramesh said, “history is witness... whenever someone has challenged the self-respect and self-esteem of India, we have given them a befitting reply...Every single Congress worker stands with the country's army in this difficult time. We are taking out a 'Jai Hind Yatra' across the country today,” he said.

State units like Manipur and Odisha held 'Jai Hind Yatras'. In Bhubaneswar, Congress Odisha President Bhakta Charan Das led the march where workers carried the tricolour from Ram Mandir Square to Master Canteen Square while in Imphal, state president K Meghachandra and Legislature Party leader O Ibobi Singh led the march.

Addressing a press conference, senior Congress leader Ragini Nayak said the party had postponed its 'Samvidhan Bachao' campaign owing to the latest developments but decided to hold 'Jai Hind Yatra' to send a message to the world that the entire country is united.

She said the terrorists involved in Pahalgam asked religion to choose victims while Pakistan also attacked a gurdwara. "India targeted only terror infrastructure while Pakistan attacked civilian areas," she said.
