A constable allegedly shot dead three policeman in Jharkhand's Gumla district, police said Thursday.

Vikas Tiwari, a constable with the India Reserve Battalion (IRB), had a heated argument with his colleagues on some issues Wednesday night. He picked his automatic rifle and shot three policemen dead - assistant sub-inspector Ratan Kumar Kushwaha, head constable Shambhu Kumar and constable Chandan Kumar.

The alleged attacker escaped after killing them.

The shooting took place at Gurdarai police station in Gumla, around 130 km from Ranchi.

The IRB battalion has been deployed for the election duty.
