Delhi reports 1,109 new Covid-19 cases and 09 deaths in the past 24 hours

Karnataka reports 1,713 new Covid-19 cases, four deaths

Karnataka on Saturday reported 1,713 freshCovid-19cases and four virus-related deaths, taking the total infections and fatalities to 40,40,111 and 40,166 respectively, the state health department said. In its daily Covid bulletin, the government said 1,034 people were discharged, taking the total number of recoveries to 39,89,451 till date.

Gujarat sees 258 new Covid-19 cases, three fatalities

Gujarat on Saturday recorded 258 new cases ofCovid-19and three casualties that raised the tally of infection to 12,67,550 and toll to 10,999, an official from the state health department said. The count of recoveries reached 12,53,998, after 637 patients were discharged from hospitals during the day, the official said.

Nashik reports 57 Covid-19 cases, no death; active tally now 266

TheCovid-19tally in Nashik reached 4,80,989 on Saturday after 57 cases were detected, while the death toll remained unchanged at 8,903, an official said. The recovery count increased by 117 and reached 4,71,820, leaving the district with an active caseload of 266, he added.

Canada approves 1st Covid booster for kids aged 5-11

Canada's drug regulator announced it has authorised Pfizer-BioNTech ComirnatyCovid-19vaccine for use as a booster dose inchildren aged 5 to 11 years.

Meanwhile, the National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NACI) released national guidance for its use on Friday.

Odisha registers 320 new Covid-19 cases, one fresh fatality

Odisha'sCovid-19tally rose to 13,24,774 on Saturday as 320 more people, including 41 children, tested positive for the infection, a health bulletin said.

The toll rose to 9,162 as a 72-year-old woman succumbed to the disease in Bhubaneswar. Fifty-three other patients have died due to comorbidities so far, it said.

 Assam logs 91 new Covid-19 cases

Assam reported 91 newCovid-19cases in the last 24 hours, 28 less than the previous day, pushing the tally to 7,43,432, a National Health Mission (NHM) bulletin said.

Arunachal Pradesh logs 22 fresh Covid-19 cases

Arunachal Pradesh'sCovid-19tally rose to 66,531 on Saturday after 22 more people tested positive for the infection, seven less than the previous day, a senior health official said here.

TheCovid-19death toll remained at 296 as no new fatality due to the infection was recorded in the last 24 hours, State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa said.

11 fresh Covid-19 cases in Andamans

The Covid-19 tally of Andaman and Nicobar Islands rose to 10,552 on Saturday as 11 more people tested positive for the infection, a health bulletin said.

Mizoram logs 130 fresh Covid-19 cases

Mizoram's Covid-19 tally rose to 2,35,970 on Saturday as 130 more people tested positive for the infection, 28 fewer than the previous day, a health official said.

The single-day positivity rate increased to 26.16 per cent from 23.69 per cent on the previous day as 497 samples were tested for the infection.

12 fresh Covid-19 cases in Ladakh

Ladakh'sCovid-19 caseload climbed to 29,134 on Saturday as 12 more people tested positive for the viral disease, officials said.

The death toll remained unchanged at 229, they said.

Britain's Covid cases fall to lowest level in 2 months

Covid-19 cases in Britain have fallen to their lowest level in two months, revealing a fresh evidence that the current wave of the virus is receding, figures show.

The number of patients in hospital with the virus is also continuing to drop, though health experts warned infections are likely to rise again in the autumn and winter, reports dpa news agency.

FDA asks Pfizer to test second Paxlovid course in patients with Covid rebound
