Mumbai: The cotton traders across India have suspended trade with Turkey in the wake of the latter’s support to Pakistan during the Operation Sindoor, according to Cotton Association of India (CAI).
In a circular to members, CAI President Atul Ganatra has urged its members to wholeheartedly support the boycott against Turkey.
“As you are aware Turkey imports cotton and other material from India. In 2024, Turkey’s total imports from India including cotton amounted to US$ 74.27 million whereas exports to India during the same period was US$ 2.84 billion,” Ganatra said in a press statement.
According to him, in the past too Turkey has raised the Kashmir issue and acted against India in international fora including United Nations.
“Turkey’s actions are against our national sovereignty and integrity,” he said, adding that Turkey has been aiding and abetting Pakistan and had supplied military hardware to them.
