The Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPM) on Thursday expelled K C Ramachandran, one of its three members convicted in connection with the murder of Revolutionary Marxist Party (RMP) leader T P Chandrasekharan, from the party.
A statement issued by the state committee said the decision to expel Ramachandran, a local committee member in Kunnummakkara in Kozhikode, followed an investigation taken up by the party.
The party, however, termed reasons behind the murder that happened in May 2012 as “personal”. The statement said the party’s area, district or state leaderships had no part to play in the incident.
The RMP and local CPM activists clashed after which Ramachandran was arrested. Ramachandran, who took up small-time contract works, had issues with Chandrasekharan who blocked some of his contracts and the murder was the result of personal enmity, the statement said.
