CRPF will deploy a squad of its women commandos for rendering security duties during the upcoming Amarnath Yatra in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) had recently unveiled its exclusive women commandos team which has been trained to undertake special operations. The team possesses skills for unarmed combat and sophisticated weapons firing.

The women commandos, according to sources, will be deployed at select locations which are found to be vulnerable in the yatra route.

The force has deployed a total of 60 companies, including two regular women units, for the yatra security. One company strength is about 100 personnel.

The first batch of the yatra is scheduled to leave from Jammu on June 27. So far nearly three lakh people have registered for the annual yatra.
