New Delhi: The CRPF has dismissed its personnel Munir Ahmed from service on charges of "concealing" his marriage with a Pakistani woman, saying his action was found to be detrimental to national security.

Officials said Ahmed was last posted with the 41st battalion of paramilitary CRPF. He was "dismissed from service" under rules that do not require conducting an enquiry, officials said.

"Munir Ahmed has been dismissed from service with immediate effect for concealing his marriage to a Pakistani national and knowingly harbouring her beyond the validity of her visa. His actions were found to be in violation of service conduct and detrimental to national security," CRPF spokesperson Deputy Inspector General (DIG) M Dhinakaran said.

The issue came to light after India asked Pakistani nationals to leave the country following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 people were killed.

Ahmed and Menal Khan, a Pakistani national, tied the knots on May 24 last year. According to CRPF officials, a CRPF probe found Ahmed "did not intimate" his wedding and Khan overstaying in India to the authorities.

Earlier on Wednesday, Jammu and Kashmir High Court stayed the deportation of Khan. She was at the Attari-Wagah border when the court granted the temporary stay on her deportation on Wednesday.
