Just two days after killing a local politician, militants hurled a grenade at a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) picket in north Kashmir’s Sopore town on Friday, injuring one.

The police said unidentified militants hurled the grenade at a CRPF picket near Sopore bus stand, 52 kms from here. However, it missed the intended target and exploded on the road injuring one CRPF personnel.

Eyewitness told Deccan Herald that the explosion caused panic among shopkeepers and passers-by.

Immediately after the attack, a large contingent of the police and the CRPF cordoned off the area to nab the militants, they said. No outfit has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.
