New Delhi: A day before I.N.D.I.A. parties are set to hold a meeting to strategise for the upcoming Monsoon Session of Parliament, the BJP, too held a similar meeting of senior leaders on Friday that saw party president JP Nadda, union home minister Amit Shah, and union parliamentary affairs minister Kiren Rijiju in attendance among others at union defence minister Rajnath Singh’s house.
The meeting, usually held before Parliament sessions to strategise the party’s position on matters, assumes more importance this year since the party is likely to announce its president in the next few weeks. Other leaders attending the meeting include union ministers CR Patil, Piyush Goyal, and Manohar Lal Khattar.
A senior party leader, involved in the running of the BJP Parliamentary party, said that the Session will see several contentious issues on which the I.N.D.I.A. and NDA parties will lock horns. “Every session we have issues that come up, and we work out ways to ensure the Session is productive. The Opposition wants to boycott most days and stall the running of the House but we are open to discussions as well as debates,” the senior leader said.
The primary among the issues that the Opposition will raise is the Pahalgam attack and the security lapses Operation Sindoor, the tweets of US President Donald Trump announcing the ceasefire between India and Pakistan. Unemployment and infrastructure collapse, too, are some of the key issues.
The impeachment of Justice Yashwant Verma, too, will also be taken up this Session.
On Sunday, the government will hold the customary all party meeting to discuss various issues that will be taken up.
