Gupta, 50, was chosen as the Leader of the House in the Delhi Assembly at the BJP legislature party meeting late evening on Wednesday and took oath as the Chief Minister of Delhi on Thursday in the presence of top BJP brass. She is the 4th woman chief minister of Delhi after BJP's Sushma Swaraj, Congress' Sheila Dikshit, and Aam Aadmi Party's Atishi.

The late Sushma Swaraj was a BJP minister and veteran actors Jaya Prada and Hema Malini are also associated with the saffron party.

While the announcement of Gupta's name took many by surprise, it soon turned into a hot meme topic on the internet and a jingle tweaked to suit the current political scenario has been garnering a lot of interest.

In post on X, a user shared a collage of four photos with the caption, “Hema Rekha Jaya aur Sushma Sabki Pasand Bhajpa" (Hema, Rekha, Jaya, and Sushma, everyone’s choice is BJP) #RekhaGupta," taking cue from the old favourite jingle “Hema, Rekha, Jaya aur Sushma, sabki pasand Nirma" (Hema, Rekha, Jaya and Sushma, everyone’s choice is Nirma). The collage featured Hema Malini, Rekha Gupta, Jaya Prada and Sushma Swaraj.

Did it make you chuckle a bit? It did make some of the netizens surely laugh.

Reacting to the post, one commented, "Now this legendary melody is completed, while another wrote, "Love the spirit of unity and support!"

For the uninitiated, the jingle Sabki Pasand Nirma, was created for the brand Nirma washing powder and aired on radio first in 1975 and ran for 33 years.

A television advertisement featuring actor Sangeeta Bijlani was first broadcast in 1982 and the catchy jingle even went on to become a household favourite, shooting up the brand's popularity several notches higher.
