The Delhi Police Crime Branch on Friday arrested Bandhu Man Singh, a gangster, in connection with shooting at comedian Kapil Sharma's restaurant in Canada.
Singh is associated with the Goldy Dhillon gang and has several criminal cases registered against him.
A Chinese pistol and cartridges were recovered from him, Delhi police said in a statement.
Kap's Cafe in Canada's Surrey has been attacked thrice since its opening in july this year. The cafe was targeted on July 10, August 7 and October 16. The Lawrence Bishnoi gang had claimed the attacks on the cafe.
According to reports, Sharma has been targeted because of his close ties to actor Salman Khan. The gang has threatened the superstar as an act of revenge for hunting a blackbuck in 1998, which is considered as sacred in Bishnoi community.
There are also rumors that Kapil Sharma's show as a trigger point hurting sentiments of the community. The tension stems from an episode, where a participant made 'humorous' remarks on Nihang Sikh's traditional attire and conduct.
