New Delhi: Former MP and Trinamool Congress leader Mahua Moitra on Friday vacated her government accommodation, a day after the Delhi High Court refused to stay an eviction notice issued to her.

"House number 9B on Telegraph Lane occupied by Mahua Moitra was vacated by 10 AM this (Friday) morning before the authorities arrived. No eviction took place," Moitra's lawyer Shadan Farasat told reporters.

The Directorate of Estates (DoE) had sent a team to get the official bungalow vacated. The area around it was barricaded.

Farsat said the possession of the house has been handed over to the DoE officials. The DoE had issued an eviction notice to the Trinamool leader.

Citing medical reasons, Mahua Moitra appealed to the Delhi High Court to prohibit authorities from evicting her from the bungalow. She pleaded that she should not be removed from the premises at the moment as she is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital here.

Additional Solicitor General (ASG) Chetan Sharma and central government's standing counsel, Anurag Ahluwalia, representing the DoE, opposed the plea.
