According to the police, Kiran Jha was attacked by her husband Pramod Jha who disguised himself as a 'Sadhu'.

In the early hours of Wednesday, Jha's daughter-in-law found her lying in a pool of her own blood and immediately reported the matter to the police.

After viewing the CCTV footage, police found Pramod Jha escaping the crime scene around 12:50 am, after changing his clothes.

Ankit Chauhan, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South), said, “We received a PCR call around 4:09 am informing us that Kiran, who worked as a caregiver for patients, was found lying in a pool of blood by her daughter-in-law.”

Police recovered the weapon of offence, a hammer, from inside the room and registered a case against Pramod Jha.

According to police, Pramod Jha arrived in Delhi from his native village in Bihar on Friday.

Kiran had separated from her husband due to domestic violence and was was residing with her son Durgesh, daughter-in-law Kamal and grand daughter in Delhi for the past 10 years

“Kiran’s daughter Roma alleged that her father used to abuse her mother which prompted Kiran to leave and live separately in Delhi,” the officer said.

Following the conversation with Roma, officials found that the family had visited Bihar two months ago where he claimed that he had now changed.

“Taking advantage of this false impression, he came to Delhi on Friday and stayed with us. On the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday, he killed my mother after she refused to accompany him back to Bihar,” Roma asserted.

As the intent of crime is not yet clear, a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Neb Sarai Police Station.

“Teams have been dispatched to railway stations and bus terminals to track his movements. We are working on multiple leads and are confident of arresting him soon,” the officer added.
