New Delhi: AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal launched an attack on its former electoral partner Congress, bringing the Gandhi family on the line of fire by claiming that none of them went to jail in the "open and shut" National Herald case and alleged a nexus between the grand old party and the ruling BJP.
Congress and AAP have been attacking each other since Delhi Assembly elections early this year with top leader Rahul Gandhi attacking Kejriwal on corruption plank. AAP also left the I.N.D.I.A. bloc and has been working on expanding its footprints in states like Gujarat.
Addressing party leaders at a function here, he said AAP will not compromise on its politics and they are working for the nation and not entering politics for forming a coalition or anything else.
Emphasising that the AAP does not do politics of compromise, he said they do not enter into some adjustment with others through discussions in the confines of a closed room. He said if one thinks that people will not know such machinations, that is wrong and people are not fools.
People are talking about leaders like Mayawati compromising with the BJP.
"In Goa, I heard people saying that AAP's five big leaders were arrested and put in jail by the BJP and why is that no Congressman is arrested. There is the National Herald case and from what I read on the internet...according to facts, the National Herald case looks like an open and shut case. We were jailed as per absolutely fake cases, but no one from the Gandhi family went to jail," he said.
During the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, he said, there was a campaign against land deals in which Priyanka Gandhi Vadra's husband Robert Vadra's name was mentioned for alleged corruption and then the 2G and coal scam cases were closed.
People are discussing that there is an alliance between BJP and Congress, he alleged.
