Delhi government on Monday announced an honorarium of Rs one crore for the family of Intelligence Bureau (IB) staffer Ankit Sharma, who was killed in the communal clashes in north-east Delhi, and a job to one of the family member.
"Ankit Sharma was a brave officer of the IB. He was brutally murdered in the riots. The country is proud of him. The Delhi government has decided that his family will be given an honorarium of Rs 1 crore, and a job to one person of his family. May his soul rest in peace," the Delhi chief minister tweeted.
Ankit (26) was found murdered on February 25 and his body was fished out from a drain. His family had accused AAP councillor Tahir Hussain of masterminding the killing following which Delhi Police registered a case of murder against him.
Hussain is yet to be arrested even as he claimed innocence.
