The per capita income of Delhi is about three times the national average of Rs 93,231, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said on Saturday.
According to “Estimates of State Domestic Product – 2015-16”, the per capita income is expected to be Rs 2,80,142 for the year 2015-16 against Rs 2,52,011 during 2014-15.
“This reveals an annual growth of 11.16% over the previous year,” Sisodia said, adding that Delhi has the second highest per capita income among all states and union territories.
He said the per capita income during 2014-15 was Rs 1.15 lakh in Punjab and Rs 1.50 lakh in Haryana.
Delhi government claimed that the city’s economy is going forward on the path of “sustainable growth”.
Sisodia said Delhi ranks higher than states like Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Haryana and Odisha in terms of Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP).
According to him, GSDP in Delhi at the current prices for the year 2015-16 is estimated at Rs 5,58,745 crore against Rs 4,94,460 crore in 2014-15, registering a growth of 13%.
“The contribution of Delhi in total GDP (at current prices) at the national level is 4.12% as compared to 1.43% share of Delhi in total population of the country,” Sisodia said.
The Aam Aadmi Party government said the share of service sector in Delhi’s economy is about 82.3% followed by secondary sector at 15.5% and primary sector at 2.2%.
The share of manufacturing sector is about 8.8%, construction sector 4.01%, trade hotels and restaurant 14.97%, financial services 15.40%. As much as 26.82% share is from real estate, ownership of dwellings and professional services.
