Several ships and submarines of the Western Fleet, the Sword Arm of the Indian Navy, are maintaining heightened levels of awareness in the Arabian Sea, after the terror attack in Jammu & Kashmir.

“The Indian Navy is always alert…after the incident (of Pahalgam), there is an extra level of preparedness,” said officials of Mumbai-headquarters of the Western Naval Command.

On Sunday, the Indian Navy released a set of photos and videos, showing various drills of the Indian Navy. “Indian Navy ships undertook successful multiple anti-ship firings to revalidate and demonstrate readiness of platforms, systems and crew for long range precision offensive strike,” the Navy said.

The Indian Navy also set out a strong message - “ #IndianNavy stands #CombatReady #Credible and #FutureReady in safeguarding the nation’s maritime interests Anytime, Anywhere, Anyhow”.

Among the ships deployed were the INS Vikrant, the aircraft carrier of the blue-water force.

Last week, the Navy successfully conducted test-firing of a surface-to-air missiles from its latest indigenous guided missile destroyer INS Surat.

Other ships of the Western Fleet are Kolkata-class destroyers and Nilgiri-class frigates and Krivak-class frigates.
