Security concerns over the Vishwa Hindu Parishad's (VHP) proposed 'dharm sabha' (religious meet) in Ayodhya next week has put the the district administration in a fix.

The VHP had claimed that over a lakh Rambhakts' (disciples of Lord Rama) would attend the meet

According to the police sources in Lucknow, the local intelligence unit (LIU) in Ayodhya is trying to ascertain the number of people, who were likely to reach the temple town on November 25 to attend the meeting.

It is said that in the meeting, prominent saints and seers from across the country will deliberate on the Ram temple issue.

Police officials in Lucknow said that managing a large crowd in the narrow lanes of Ayodhya will be a tough task.

A senior police official in Lucknow admitted that a large crowd in Ayodhya could be a matter of concern as many of them, especially the outsiders, might visit the makeshift Ram temple to pay their obeisance.

The official said that the district administration has been asked to send security personnel according to its requirement.

''We will provide adequate security in the temple town. We are committed to maintain law and order,'' he said.

He said that the administration will take all measures to ensure that the Supreme Court order that asks for maintaining a status quo at the disputed site is complied with, both in letter and in spirit.

Saffron outfits as well as the BJP were going all out to mobilise a large gathering at the 'Bada Bhaktmal Garden' ground in Ayodhya, where the 'dharm sabha' would be organised.

''Thousands of BJP workers will be reaching Ayodhya from nearby districts to attend the meeting,'' a senior BJP leader in Lucknow said.

Sources said that BJP legislators from Ayodhya and other districts in eastern Uttar Pradesh have been asked to bring their supporters to the meeting.

Meanwhile, Muslim outfits have expressed serious concern over the meet and have demanded security for the community members.
