As soon as Zero Hour started in Lok Sabha, Samajwadi Party MPs shouted slogans against the threats issued to their Rajya Sabha MP with party chief and MP Akhilesh Yadav leading the charge.

Some SP MPs displayed placards as Speaker Om Birla refused permission for an adjournment motion on the issue. The SP MPs also wanted to raise the issue of Yadav's convoy being stopped by protesters.

Trinamool Congress MPs were also on their feet protesting against the transfer of a judge.

Birla urged the protesting Opposition MPs to return to their seats but the sloganeering continued. Birla said he would give Yadav the opportunity to raise the issue while insisting that sloganeering and display of placards are not allowed in the House.

As the din continued, the proceedings were adjourned in less than five minutes of the commencement of the Zero Hour till 2 pm.

In Rajya Sabha, SP floor leader Ramgopal Yadav was allowed to raise the issue after his notice seeking suspension of business to discuss the attack on Suman's residence was rejected. Samajwadi Party MP Javed Ali Khan had also submitted a similar notice.

Yadav said a person has now issued a threat claiming that Rs 25 lakh will be paid for who would take the life of Suman. He said it is the issue of security of an MP and whether the House would not allow him to raise the issue concerning the security of a lawmaker. Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge also supported Yadav and said he wanted to raise the issue of security of an MP.

Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar said the security of every citizen and MP is important but said Suman's remarks were "hurtful" to the "chivalry and patriotism" of a "great son of soil. He said Suman's remarks were expunged but he reiterated it.

"The minimum respect the member can pay is not to reiterate them (expunged remarks). The reiteration of the same that has taken place is something which the MPs need to think about. Secondly, I am sure, the security of every citizen and member is important,” he said.

Trinamool Congress MPs raised the issue of multiple Electoral Photo Identity Cards having identical numbers but their notices were rejected, prompting a walkout.

CPI(M) and CPI MPs - John Brittas, V Sivadas, A A Rahim, P Sandosh Kumar and P P Suneer – also walked out from Rajya Sabha after their notices seeking a discussion on the attack by right wing supporters on Mohanlal-starrer L2: Empuraan.
