As skeletons tumbled out of Santosh Pol’s closet, the Satara police are investigating the quack’s possible links with kidney racket.
Family members of his six victims have demanded an investigation in this regard. “We suspect that he was part of a kidney racket," said Rita, the daughter of Nathmal who is suspected to have been killed by Pol in 2015.
“He used to be involved in kidney trade,” said Pramod, the son of Mangala Jedge, believed to be Pol’s latest victim.
“We are probing from various angles,” said Satara district Superintendent of Police Sandeep Patil. When it was pointed out to him that relatives of the victims suspected that Pol could be part of a larger kidney racket, he said: “This is a very serious case...we are not leaving anything...all possible angles are being probed.”
Pol, who has earned the notorious distinction of Dr Death, hails from Dhom village in Wai in Satara district. He worked with a local doctor in Wai before opening his clinic where he practised electrohomeopathy.
