With the India-China military stand-off not yet completely resolved, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Saturday shared his views with United States Secretary of Defence, Lloyd Austin, on New Delhi’s current security challenges.

"Welcomed US @SecDef Lloyd Austin at MEA. A wide-ranging conversation on the global strategic situation. Look forward to working with him on enhancing our strategic partnership," Jaishankar tweeted.

During a meeting with Austin, the External Affairs Minister spoke about India’s current security challenges and its longterm strategic outlook, sources said. They also discussed the changing global scenario, including in Europe and in West Asia.

Jaishankar and Austin also exchanged views on the situation in Afghanistan and assessment on the peace process and the ground situation, as also the concerns and interests of regional powers and neighbours. External Affairs Minister appreciated the engagement of President Joe Biden’s Administration with India on the situation in Afghanistan.
