The Election Commission of India (ECI) said that it is yet to decide on who is the general secretary of the AIADMK in Tamil Nadu.

The Commission's announcement came against the backdrop of an RTI letter filed by Swaminathan Kalayanasundaram of Chennai, who sought to who was the present general secretary of the party.

In its reply the Election Commission said "It is informed that at present there is an internal dispute in All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. The matter regarding office bearers is pending in the Commission".

The two warring factions have moved the ECI, staking claim for the Party and also the 'Two Leaves' election symbol, which was frozen by the Commission, after the AIADMK split in the aftermath of J Jayalalithaa's death in December last year.

Jayalalithaa's successor O Panneerselvam turned rebel, revolting against Sasikala taking over the reins of the party.
