But the protesters claimed it was all a "drama". The farmers are protesting to press for their various demands, including a legal guarantee for minimum support price (MSP). Punjab farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher said on Saturday they have not received any message from the Centre for talks to address their issues and a group of 101 farmers will resume their march to Delhi on December 8.

On Friday, protesting farmers suspended their march to the national capital for the day after some of them suffered injuries due to tear gas shells fired by security personnel, who stopped them at the Punjab-Haryana border. The farmers have been pressing for various demands, including a legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price (MSP).

The media personnel said that officials misbehaved with them telling that it is DGP's order: Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher speaking at the Shambhu border from where farmers will embark on 'Dilli Chalo' protest march.

"Media is also complaining, there was a letter from the DGP to keep media one km away, it was because they were showing atrocities on farmers. I told them not to stop the media. Then the DGP briefed them, the DGP told them to take care of themselves while going ahead, and keep masks. The media personnel said that officials misbehaved with them telling that it is DGP's order. They said that there was no advisory to press. The DGP said that it was a miscommunication, he also said that there was no such order. They were then allowed to cover. We will move at 12 pm," says farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher speaking at the Shambhu border from where farmers will embark on 'Dilli Chalo' protest march.

Plea in SC seeks direction to clear blockage of highways in Punjab

A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking directions to the Centre and others to immediately clear the blockage of national and state highways in Punjab where farmers are staging protests. The plea, filed in the apex court by a social activist hailing from Punjab, also sought directions to the Centre and others to remove restrictions on farmers’ protests and to ensure that national highways and railway tracks are not blocked by the agitating farmers.
