Failing to get justice from the police, a heartbroken father of a gang-rape survivor committed suicide in Hisar district of Haryana.

The father left behind a suicide not blaming an assistant sub-inspector of police (ASI) for pushing him to take this extreme step.

The minor daughter of the deceased was reportedly gang-raped by four persons on September 17. The girl was later located and brought home. But the police only registered a case of kidnapping against the accused. The brother of the minor girl alleged that the police pressurized them into giving an incorrect statement and even did not get the girls medical examination conducted.

The girl later confided in her father, an autorickshaw driver, that she had been gang-raped. The family approached the police with a rape complaint but to no avail. The accused, meanwhile, got some reprieve from the Court. The family said the police did not book the accused under relevant sections of rape. The suicide note blames the police for not registering a rape case and pushing the father to commit suicide.

The family also alleges that the ASI visited them a few days ago asking them to agree for a compromise. The ASI in question has stated that the girl and her mother had refused to get a medical examination conducted.
