In a shocking incident, 13 girl students of a government school here were allegedly stripped by a school teacher who suspected them of stealing a Rs 500 currency note, police said here today.
According to police, accused teacher Harjit Kaur, who was teaching in a government girls middle school in Madiala village here, found that a Rs 500 note missing was from her wallet.
She then called seventh grade girl students and stripped them in a classroom to search her note, they said.
The victims, who felt humiliated, disclosed the incident to their parents.
Later, parents lodged a strong protest against the "deplorable" act of school teacher with the school headmistress Gurdeep Kaur.
On the complaint of the parents of one of the students, a case under section 354 (assault or criminal force with intent to outrage modesty of woman), 506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC and provisions of the SC/ST Act was registered against accused a drawing teacher Harjit Kaur, police said, adding the accused was absconding.
