The court also rejected an application by one of the accused in the case for examining filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt’s son Rahul and three others as defence witnesses.
Rahul Bhatt was in the news for his acquaintance with the Pakistani-born American national and one of the key 26/11 planners David Headley, who is currently facing a trial in the US.
Besides Rahul, the accused Sabahuddin Ahmed had sought to examine National Investigation Agency (NIA) chief S C Sinha, the Gujarat Director General of Police S S Khandwawala and fitness instructor Vilas Warak.

Sabahuddin and another Indian accused Fahim Ansari were charged with supplying photographs and video footages of various targets in Mumbai to the LeT. The third accused is the Pakistani terrorist Mohammad Ajmal Kasab.
The designated judge M L Tahilyani said the accused had not made it clear what he wanted to bring on record from the four witnesses. Therefore, it would be of no use to examine them and would be a waste of time.

Sabahuddin's lawyer Ejaz Naqvi told the court on Tuesday that he wanted to examine Rahul and others to establish that it was US terror suspect David Headley who had conducted the recce of Mumbai before the 26/11 attacks, and not Sabahuddin as alleged by the prosecution.

Asked by the judge as to what evidence Rahul Bhatt and Vilas Warak, who was introduced to Headley by Rahul during his stay in Mumbai, can give, Naqvi said the duo were Headley’s close friends and had visited several places in the city with him.
