Mumbai: Days after NCP (SP) Supremo Sharad Pawar’s grand-nephew and MLA Rohit Pawar displayed preparation of a fake Aadhaar card with name "Donald Trump" with the photo of the United States President, the Mumbai Police has registered an FIR.
Earlier this month, Rohit Pawar, at a press conference, demonstrated the fake Aadhaar cards and alleged that it was being done through a website with an aim to register bogus voters.
Rohit Pawar, an MLA from Karjat Jamkhed in Ahilyanagar district, is the nephew of NCP (SP) working president Supriya Sule, who is the Baramati MP and deputy chief minister and NCP president Ajit Pawar, who is the Baramati MLA.
BJP's social media cell co-convener Dhananjay Wagaskar had filed a complaint after which the South Region Cyber Police station registered an offence under sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Information Technology Act.
The police have initiated a probe to trace the origin of the fake Aadhaar cards’ preparation and identify the individuals responsible for its design and dissemination.
Meanwhile, BJP spokesperson Navnath Ban said, “Rohit Pawar had recently held a press conference claiming to create an Aadhaar card with the identity of Donald Trump which insulted the country’s system. A complaint was filed and a probe is underway. We demand a full inquiry and strict action against Rohit Pawar and those found guilty in this matter.”
On the other hand, Rohit Pawar said that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis should have called him and he would have shown how fake Aadhaar cards are being made. “You are wasting the time of police you take 15 days to register an FIR,” he said.
