Union Culture Minister Mahesh Sharma on Monday laid foundation stone for establishment of a museum of all Prime Ministers of India at Teen Murti Complex at an estimated cost of Rs 271 crore.

The construction of the museum, which will showcase lives and contributions of all Prime Ministers including HD Deve Gowda and P V Narasimha Rao, will be completed within a year from now.

“Life and contributions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also be showcased in the upcoming museum. Whatever history we have till the museum is completed will be included in the museum. It will be completed in a year. This museum will also accommodate future PMs,” Sharma told reporters after laying foundation stone .

Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri also participated in the event.

The proposed museum will be built at 23-acre vacant land, just behind the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library (NMML) within the boundary of Teen Murti complex—which was once official residence of first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.

The 10,975.36 square metre museum will have a basement, ground floor and first floor with galleries at all three levels.
