“Shetty was caught in Bangkok. He was brought in to Mumbai today and placed under arrest,” a top crime branch official said.
Shetty, who separated from the Chhota Rajan gang in 2004 and formed his own outfit, was actively involved in extortion, smuggling, kidnapping and contract-killing, the official said.
He was produced before a local court, which remanded him in police custody till August 17.
